CREATING POWER, CHANGING SYSTEMS

A leadership training of The School of Democracy and Public Participation.

In January 2017, Pillsbury United Communities - Waite House and Mesa Latina launched a year-long leadership training program: The School of Democracy and Public Participation. We recognize that developing leaders and creating collective power is a crucial step for building a "critical mass" necessary to advance policy change in our communities. Currently, the schools of democracy is running a cohort of 25+ leaders representing several rural and metro cities of Minnesota.

Training Model

Our training model uses a Popular Education methodology and a Human Rights framework to create a process where participants will strengthen their organizing and leadership skills in order to become more effective advancing Public Policy initiatives at the local, state and federal levels.
