OVERVIEW: Mission Asset Fund announced it will provide scholarships to DACA recipients to pay for DACA renewals by the October 5 deadline. Between now and the October 5 deadline, MAF is providing DACA recipients with scholarships of $495 to renew their DACA permit. As of 9/26/17, we have $3,000,000 in the DACA Renewal Fund to provide DACA renewal scholarships to 6,000 Dreamers . 4,000 scholarships have already been issued, with 2,000 scholarships still available.
WHO CAN APPLY: This program is available nationwide. Scholarships are limited, so we encourage people to take advantage of any support in their community, including from family and friends. MAF may exhaust funds due to high demand, but will continue to fundraise. If funding runs out, MAF will likely shift to offering zero-interest loans for DACA renewals. We highly encourage DACA recipients facing financial hardship to apply ASAP at LC4DACA.org. We will make sure to update our website if funds are exhausted.
PROCESS: All DACA recipients need to do is apply online and upload a copy of their EAD card (work permit). Applicants will receive a confirmation email, and then another email upon approval. Scholarship recipients will receive a $495 check made out to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) within 48 hours. The deadline to submit a scholarship application is Friday, September 29, 2017. Unfortunately, DACA recipients who have already applied for renewal are not eligible for this scholarship.
